Project Description Summary

This restoration work is being carried out by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. The shore at Calshot features an extensive intertidal and subtidal bed of Zostera marina, with smaller patches of intertidal Z. noltei, on a range of sediments from fine muddy sand to much coarser, mixed sediments. In the first instance, In 2024, the direct injection system restoration method was trialled in adjacent sediments to the north-east of the existing beds. 20,000 seeds were used for this. If this proves successful, a larger restoration will be attempted.
