Project Description Summary

Great Salterns Quay used to extend about 100m into Langstone Harbour.  It was around 25m wide and had a steel sheet wall that was chalk filled and capped with a concrete deck.  It was in a very poor condition.  To restore mudflat habitat, in 2017 the whole quay was broken up and removed. Around 2,500m² of new mudflat was created. The 5,500m³ of chalk was reused in the bunds.
