Project Description Summary

Ongoing 25 year sea defence project taking advantage of sand generated by nearby maintenance dredging of Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne.

Since construction in 1993, sand bars removed annually from the harbour entrance were dumped at sea. Piecemeal re-use of sand until 2015, when expansion of Marine License allowed sand to be more easily used.

Now completed annually, between 15,000 and 30,000m3 of sand reused every year. Will continue annually into the future
